"Intersection of Belief and Life" caught my eye because it is very similar in title to a group I attend on Wednesday noons whenever possible at one of our churches downtown - they are luncheon-style devotional lessons geared to help Christians to be encouraged to live and share their faith in the workplace and it is called "Meeting at the Intersection of Faith and Life" - neat, huh?! I love your blog, and especially love being able to play the "listen" portions for my Mom who is in a nursing home and has difficulty seeing. Thank you for your ministry to our hearts! Sharon

You said: A connection between reading, believing, and living but not in a neat simple sequential fashion, but in a more seemingly random, back and forth, sometimes messy, sometimes surprising fashion.

That's sure how it works here! I've done it all sorts of ways, even living it first, wondering what the heck is going on, believing it because it's right there and reading it later and only then really understanding what it was all about. Maybe it sometimes 'happens' backwards because at times I get stuck after reading and believing - those times when I totally understand but just don't like it.

Excellent! I particularly liked how you emphasized that his parents did not understand what he was saying! I am adding that to my notes on another scripture that goes along those lines:

Then He [Jesus] went home, and the crowd gathered again so that they were not even able to eat. (21) When His family heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said, "He's out of His mind." (Mar 3:20-21 HCSB)

Yeah ... sometimes they did not understand him... other times they thought he was out of his mind.

Indeed, we must pray for ears to hear and eyes to see what God is teaching us through His Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, I to often come AT the Bible, versus coming TO the Bible, to be taught by, and to fellowship with, its Author.
