Day 2: Justice and Peace as a Lifestyle

I Wish You Peace

Scripture Union USA is providing a free online Bible reading guide for Advent called Journey to Bethlehem. I am a day behind but I will catch up. Come join me on this Journey.

Day 2 of the Journey to Bethlehem is titled His Peace Foretold.

He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. (Isaiah 11:3b-4)

Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. (Isaiah 11:5)

In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. (Isaiah 11:10)
It is so easy for me to think of justice and peace as way beyond me, beyond my life. To think of them only in the context of government and large powers. But as a follower of Jesus, Justice and Peace should be my lifestyle. They should characterize my words, actions, and priorities. Christ has shown us what Justice and Peace looks like in a man and I long to be like him in the everyday moments of life.

Praise the name of Jesus the "root of Jesse"!
