You have a great blog. It is hard to be quiet long enough to hear that Still, Small Voice. I am subscribing to your RSS feed.

You are so right. I struggle with quieting my week down to a point where I can seriously absorb the words of God. But I have to say that I have never been disappointed when I have succeeded turning the volume down in my life.

Currently I am simply focusing on one passage from the Bible each week. Reading it each day during some quite time which may only last a few minutes (usually during lunch), but then thinking about it when I have spare moments while driving or between tasks throughout the day.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and complimenting this blog, it is very encouraging to me.

Please feel free to respond in the comment section to any articles you read. I enjoy reading what others have found in the Word. Brad, I don't know how I found you on Twitter, but I did, and am so very glad I did. Beautiful video for Holy Thursday on Barrabas. And love your tweets that will keep me grounded through the day.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Frederick Buechner in "Telling the Truth" and I was reminded of it by your title and by reading your entries, and because this is what I think you do --

"Let the preacher tell the truth. Let him preach this overcoming of tragedy by comedy, of darkness by light, of the ordinary by the extraordinary, as the tale that is too good not to be true because to dismiss it as untrue is to dismiss along with it that 'catch of the breath, that beat and lifting of the heart near to or even accompanied by tears,' which I believe is the deepest intuition of truth that we have."

Be encouraged...your truthtelling is having an impact. (Mark - wordsburg website coming soon.)

Great quote! Glad you stopped by and left a comment. You have encouraged me. Thanks. Looking forward to checking out your blog once it is live -be sure to stop back to let me know.

This is an interesting site.

My verse:
Proverb 17:17
"A friend loves at all times"

Brad said...

Great verse SongDiary. The book of Proverbs in the Bible has such great wisdom about friendship. Another one I like is Proverbs 27:6.

"Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses."

Such wisdom in the Word of God.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to share a verse.

Love your title, "Sound of a soft breath"
I desire to be so in tune to my King that I may perceive every nuance, every nudge. Your site is an encouragement to the Bride! I see you stretching your gifting to write and convey the heart of God to the very thirsty. God bless your gifting to new places and media.

Brad said...

Thank you STEVE for taking your time to stop and encourage me.

I have always struggled with writing and so each post is a challenge, but felt led to force past the technical hindrances of writing and simple try to communicate my honest reaction to what I read in the Word each week.

Praise God for pushing those who follow Him out of their comfort zones.

Analou and Bones said...

Hi hello. Thank you by the way for following my blog. There is one song(or short story) that I love very much. The title is....FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND....There is one particular stanza/line of that song that always retained in my mind. it goes like this.....The Lord said, my child, my precious, precious child. I love you and I will never leave you. In times of your troubles and sufferings when you see one footprints in the sand, that's the time that I carried you.

Analou and Bones said...

Thank you always my friend for dropping EC in my blog. I dropped EC in your blog too. Take care and enjoy your day.

Dusty Chris said...

Your posts bless me. Thanks for writing

Brad said...

Thank you ANALOU for stopping dropping by and sharing about FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND. Many have found comfort in that song, poem, or story. God is WITH US.

Thank you DUSTY CHRIS that means so much to me. God is simply AWESOME and the more I focus on His Word and my honest reflection on it the less of a labor writing is for me. If you told me several years ago that I would be writing on a regular basis I would have thought you were nuts. For most of my life I have avoided reading and writing. I love drawings, graphics, and pictures not words, but God is all about CHANGE. And He has changed me in so many ways. I look forward to more changes.

Thank you all for reading and taking the time to encourage me with your comments.

Brad,

Thank you again for your readership at uncommon ordinary and for your support of that site in the past.

I was feeling a strong pull to move away from the mix of poetry ... spiritual and secular there.

My heart has always felt most at home in prayer and so I have just begun Selah (www.ahselah.blogspot.com)

I'm so glad to hear that you are on Facebook, Brad. How you glorify our Savior!

Thank you Laure. My pleasure. I very much enjoy your writing and poetry and will most definitely check out your new blog.
