Much of my life I have struggled with relating to the accounts recorded in the Bible. They have often seemed distant and confusing. Don't get me wrong certain passages have hit me hard, even convicted me and made me think seriously about my life and actions, but on the whole especially in the Old testament I just felt like I was missing something. The Old Testament has always been difficult for me to relate to and as a result, in the past, I have tended to ignore it. However, I am discovering that the more I examine it, test it, and put it into the context of God's love the more I can relate to it and understand it. Recently, however I have felt more like I am getting "it" - the big picture of God's plan.

I started this blog at the beginning of 2008 as a journal of my thoughts as I worked through the Essential 100 Bible reading program. I blogged roughly once a day as I read each of the 100 passages. You can follow my E100 journal here at my blog. Note the tab at the top of this blog.

Currently I am journaling through 100 verses laid out in a book titled The Essential Jesus: 100 Readings Through the Bible's Greatest Story.. This book was written by the same guy, Whitney T. Kuniholm, who put together the E100 challenge. This journey I hope will put some of my understandings of who Jesus is under the microscope of the Word of God. For me it is a time to reexamine what the Bible says about Jesus. To reexamine his life, his actions, his words. Please consider joining me on this journey. I have also included a tab at the top of my blog for quick access to these posts.

Here is a little background on the title of this blog "sound of a soft breath" and me. Please stop and say hello.

I look forward to your thoughts and comments on the words written for us all in the Bible.

peace & grace in Christ,
brad @ sound of a soft breath

  1. Just wanted to drop by and say Hi and let you know I enjoy and appreciate your Blog (although I know you want the praise to go where it is due). As a new Christian, sometimes it's hard to differentiate good readings, doctrines, etc from bad or false ones. I do find your Blog very Biblically sound and motivating. It is easy to see you are committed to projecting Christ and not some other agenda. Thanks so much for your site (and for your visits/drops on my site). God Bless You! And know you have a brother in Christ out here in So Cal. Take Care and keep spreading the Good News!

  4. Hi
Liked what I have seen so far on the John 9 posting, but have a problem putting comments on. Tried several times and got it wiped. Very frustrating.
When it says "select profile" below here, each time I tried to put my knew wordpress blog in by simply pasting it from my site, it said "illegal characters", which is crazy as it was just pasted. Every time I pasted it there was also (wordpress) added by your blog site which messed it up. I couldn't post no matter how I tried. I couldn't edit it either. I shall try with this again. If it works, I shall go back to your Jn9 post
I have pasted my profile here as I can't do it in the proper place.

  8. Brad, thanks for your blog. I love the layout and the way that you lift up the Name of Christ, our Lord and Savior. Part of success is monitoring what goes into our ears and eyes, and I am pleased to say that everything I view here strengthens my walk with Christ.

  11. Steve: I very much appreciate you stopping by regularly. Your comment is encouraging to me. So glad this blog strengthens your walk with Christ. He is Awesome!

Valerie Lynn: Thank you! I am growing in this area of being honest in my relationship w/ God, his Word, and other folks. Christ is my example.

Sidharth: Thanks. I have heard that from several people. White on black has never been a problem for me but that is probably because I have spent quite a few hours over the years on Architectural Cadd systems that traditionally have a black background.
